Whether it be a stunning sunrise on a quiet mountain morning, or the awesome sound of a powerful rushing waterfall, nothing soothes the soul like time out in God’s creation.

Luke 5:16 Ministries was formed to address the serious problem of burnout, fatigue, and stress among pastors, church staff, and volunteers. These issues affect their physical and mental health and unfortunately often lead to them having to choose to leave their work. Our Christian church cannot afford to lose these talented and dedicated kingdom workers.

Luke 5:16 Ministries aims to help alleviate these issues by providing trips that allow for a time of rest and refreshment for these valuable people.

Who We Serve

We serve Christian pastors, church staff, volunteers, their spouses, etc. – anyone that is serving the Lord in their own way and could really benefit from a break and some time of refreshment.

We love our local church and we’re sure you love yours too. Having said that, this ministry serves the “Big C” – Christ’s church as a whole. We don’t limit our reach to any one congregation, city or state. We love connecting with and serving fellow believers and churches from everywhere. That approach has born tremendous fruit with genuine friendships formed, and from those relationships we have seen opportunities to help more of God’s servants.

Funding

Funding for the ministry comes from fellow believers that share concern for the mental well being of our pastors and other church workers. Funds raised go towards the costs associated with providing trips so that participants can attend regardless of their financial situation. They are then able to focus solely on having a great time and “recharging their batteries.” We pray that this leads to restoration for them, and a renewed energy for their most important work of furthering the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Founder

Anthony Smith formed Luke 5:16 Ministries in 2021 when he felt called to use the spiritual gifts and blessings he had been given to serve those people that serve the Lord. Looking around, he saw lots of worthwhile programs and ministries for those struggling with life challenges such as addiction, homelessness, marriage/family issues, financial struggles, etc.

But he did not see the same support for those people working on the front lines of the church. It became apparent to him that those who serve the needy, minister to the hurting, and spread the Word are very much underserved themselves.

So Anthony made the decision to combine two of the things he knows best; business world experience in management & logistics and a life-long love for the outdoors. This led to the idea for a ministry that would plan, host, and fund trips for church workers, giving them time off to relax and enjoy God’s great creation of nature. Fast forward through months of planning and legal paperwork, and Luke 5:16 Outdoor Ministries was born. Now Anthony is excited to grow the ministry’s network of friends and supporters in order to reach and serve more kingdom workers.
